The
kennel Chateau Fleur
started up with an imported she-dog puppy from Norway. Her name
was "Mademoiselle Coquelicot of Lykseth (Saskia)".
We liked the breed of dog very much and we chose therefore to get
some more of these wonderful dogs. We imported some from Germany
with which we were more or less lucky. One he-dog was bought in
France. His name was "Emir des Nuits Etoilees par le Roy Tatius".
An incredibly fine dog which unfortunately was found to have a heart-disease.
However
"Arko von Gravener Haus" turned out to be more successful. He was
a big, robust dog from Germany that became both Swedish and German
champion. He has delivered two fine litters in Norway.

Arko
was the type of Leonberger that we found ideal and that we would
endeavour to produce - dark, broad head, a sturdy frame. The movements
were graceful and relaxed.

After the first
litter from Saskia in 1990 we have had further seven litters with
totally 55 puppies named Chateau Fleur. Many of them have been delivered
abroad e.g. to Germany, Switzerland and the U.S. One of them that
has excelled is "Chateau Fleur´s Davinja" from our breeding he-dog
"Remröds the Christmas Song" and "Remröds Domenique Chateau Fleur".

She belongs
to Mary-Ann Ruggiero Smith in USA. She has been very successful
in shows over there and was one of the best she-dogs in 1998.
In our opinion
the breeding material in Sweden today is a bit thin so we try to
find new blood lines abroad (e.g. in Germany). We have today six
Leonbergers in our kennel: one breeding he-dog, three breeding she-dogs,
one ½ year old he-dog and one 7 months she-puppy.
